Cookie Policy

We use local storage, not traditional cookies, for game data. Here's what's actually stored.

Last updated: June 1, 2026

A lot of cookie policies are long because sites use a lot of tracking. Scramblfix keeps it simple. The word search runs in your browser, we don't require an account, and we store only what the app needs to work well between visits. Here is the complete picture.

Local storage, not cookies

Scramblfix primarily uses browser local storage rather than traditional HTTP cookies to save your game state. Local storage stays on your device and — unlike cookies — is not sent to our server with every page request. Everything in the table below is stored locally only, under the key wu2.

Ad network cookies

If you are using Scramblfix with ads displayed (you have not purchased the ad-free option), the ad network may set its own cookies to serve relevant advertising. These are third-party cookies set by the ad network — we do not control their content or duration.

If you activate the ad-free option, ads are removed immediately and no ad network cookies are set for the remainder of your session.

How to clear your data

Reset just the Scramblfix app data

Open your browser's developer tools (usually F12 or right-click → Inspect), go to the Application tab, find Local Storage, locate this site, and delete the wu2 entry. This resets everything — theme, history, favourites, XP — without affecting other websites.

Clear all site data via browser settings

In Chrome or Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data → search for the site → Delete. In Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data. In Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.

Block storage entirely

If you block all site data in your browser, Scramblfix's word search still works. You will lose the ability to save preferences between sessions, but the unscrambler, Wordle helper, and crossword solver all function without local storage access.

Changes

If we introduce new storage in a way that matters, we will update this page. Questions? Email privacy@scramblfix.com.
